Clark Kent (Smallville), the Doctor (Doctor Who). We learned in Utopia (2007) that the Master survived the Time War by "fobwatching" himself as the Doctor had once done when needing to hide his Time Lord nature (Human Nature/The Family of Blood, 2007), which is why the Master couldn't be detected when the Doctor was looking for surviving Time Lords. ... That is, that's when we learned that this is what happened in proper Doctor Who continuity. |

The Doctor, the Master (Doctor Who: Scream of the Shalka). Scream of the Shalka (2003) was a six-episode animated Doctor Who story produced for the BBC website for the programme's 40th anniversary featuring Richard E. Grant voicing the Doctor; and Derek Jacobi playing the Master, which he went on to do in the proper tv series in Utopia (2007). |

The Master [a different incarnation] (Doctor Who: Scream of the Shalka). The Master in Shalka was an android who didn't seem able to depart the confines of the TARDIS, and whether he was just a simalcrum of the Master or was the Master's mind housed in an android shell was left unanswered (as well as how, either way, the Doctor came into the possession of an android Master at all). The question was no doubt meant to be explored in planned subsequent animated web stories, which were never produced because of the return of the proper tv series. Here is The Hero of Three Faces continuity's answer to the question. |
