It's nice to get back to the space arc after a month. You recall how I've
said once or twice I sometimes wish I'd created Arthur, King of Time and
Space differently: in the sort of suspended chronology most comics
characters live in, the height of King Arthur's reign, all character
relationships in a fully established equilibrium; maybe even only the
baseline or only the space arc, at least initially. I'll not switch to
equilibrium format now, and in any case after a few years and a few more
landmark events even this biography format will arrive at the equilibrium
point and maintain it almost until the end. But till then the space arc, the
only one of the three major arcs with the legend's four main characters
grouped in the same place, is the closest to equilibrium format there is.
That makes it good to get back to.
The other side of it is, getting back to the space arc means going back to
having to write a new stand-alone gag day after day. Life is a series of
trade-offs.
