One of the first things I do when I discover a new webcomic, if it's old
enough, is I see what's in the archives for the week of 9/11/01. It seems to
me that the best writers tend to have responded to the event only after
several days' contemplation, or not directly at all.
Then I look at the week of my birthday 1999 for reaction to Charles Schulz'
retirement announcement, and the week of Valentine's Day 2000 for reaction to
his death.
(And, recently, I've been looking at Arthur, King of Time and Space's
debut date too ...)
